Councillor Liz Wismer-Van Meer talked about the taxi licensing and community grant applicants during the Heart FM Morning Show.

WOODSTOCK - The bi-weekly City Council Interview took place on Heart FM.

Today, Councillor Liz Wismer-Van Meer was on the show to discuss items of interest that are on the agenda for this week's meeting. One of those topics is taxi licensing and rideshare regulations. On Thursday, the council will discuss a recommendation that has been brought forward. Councillor Liz Wismer-Van Meer explains what that will be.

"So, what they're saying with this interim policy direction is kind of like defer the local TNC rideshare licensing amendments that we had kind of suggested back in June and then maintain the taxi licensing while modernizing some of the requirements. So, there will be some suggested changes, but that's just for the taxi licensing."

Wismer-Van Meer says they want the proposed amendments establishing a local Transportation Network Company licensing framework paused because of a provincial rideshare review. Community grant applications will also be discussed at the meeting this week, and below are the groups looking for funding.

- Navy League of Canada - Woodstock Branch ($7,000.00)
- Oxford Attack Basketball Club ($2,000.00)
- Oxford County Feline Wellness & Outreach Programs ($5,000.00)
- Oxford Winds Community Concert Band ($2,000.00)
- Pamoja Elevate ($4,500.00)
- REACH ($2,100.00)
- Royal Canadian Legion Br55 ($8,390.00)
- Special Olympics Ontario - Woodstock ($7,000.00)
- Theatre Woodstock on behalf of STAGES Youth Theatre ($6,000.00)
- Tillsonburg & District Multi-Service Centre ($1,500.00)
- VON Sakura House ($4,500.00)
- Woodstock Curling Centre ($8,000.00)
- Woodstock Minor Hockey ($7,000.00)

Wismer-Van Meer says what council could do with the list of applicants.

"Council can approve as is; we could potentially suggest some changes, whatever that could look like. And then if council approves, then these groups would just receive the funding through the City of Woodstock, usually within a few weeks of approval."
