The Special Investigations Unit is investigating a single vehicle crash in SWOX that sent three people to the hospital on Canada Day with serious injuries.
The vehicle left the roadway on Canada Day and hit a telephone pole, around 4:30 pm on Highway 401 in South-West Oxford. OPP and EMS rushed to the scene.
Two passengers were ejected from the vehicle and one person had to be airlifted to the hospital by ORNGE Air Ambulance. The driver tried to leave the scene of the crash on foot. Police located him a short while later and he was taken into custody and then transported to the hospital.
The driver, 32 year old Brandon Marchant of London was charged with the following.
- Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000
- Dangerous Operation
- Failure to Stop After Accident
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order x 2
- Driving While Under Suspension
- Use Altered Plate
The OPP has notified the province's Special Investigations Unit (SIU), which has invoked its mandate.
