Hundreds of people attended the event in Museum Square last year.
WOODSTOCK - The Every Child Matters flag will be raised today, ahead of National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
The first ceremony will take place outside the Oxford County Administration building at 9:00 a.m., before everyone heads across the street to Museum Square for another ceremony at 9:30 a.m.. A reception will also at the Woodstock Art Gallery at 10:00 a.m..
The second annual Truth and Reconciliation March will also be taking place in Woodstock this Sunday. It's hosted by the Two Row Culture and Community Centre, which officially opened Patullo Ave in Woodstock this past June, and will be fully open to the public next month.
Becca Neepin runs the centre, and she says everyone will gather in Museum Square at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday.
"We have the opening ceremony with a women's drum group, we also have the men's big drum playing all day, we have the dancers, Indigenous vendors, an Indigenous food vendor, and all of the community support tables."
The march itself will begin around 1:00 p.m. and it will take everyone down Riddell Street, Hunter Street, Light Street, and Dundas Street.
Neepin says they had a huge turnout last year and she would like to see more people this weekend.
"I had hundreds of people! I filled Museum Square and I hope to do the same thing this year. We all cam come in solidary to honour our residential school survivors and our children."
Everyone is being encouraged to wear orange to the event and during National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on Wednesday, September 30th. A sunrise ceremony with Mary Lou Smoke will be held at Pittock Conservation Area that morning with a 7:00 a.m. start time.
