OPP looking for vandals who set off a chemical explosion
A suspect in Norwich Township used a chemical concoction to blow up a mailbox.
The incident happened over the weekend, as Sunday morning, the destroyed mailbox of East Oxford Public School was discovered.
Police say someone mixed the chemicals inside of a plastic bottle and then placed it inside the mailbox to blow it up.
They say this is the 7th incident since December. In all other cases, the mailboxes were physically smashed. But the latest incident on Old Stage Road is in the same area as the other incidents, and they suspect they are connected. Police say the mailbox explosion happened sometime between early Friday evening and 10 o'clock Sunday morning. Police also caution the public not to handle any suspicious looking bottles that are misshapen or damaged.
