Farm Industry professional, Mike Campbell files to run in Ward 2 of EZT
The first candidate has filed to run in this year's election in East-Zorra-Tavistock.
Mike Campbell is a longtime Tavistock resident, who recently moved to a country property on Braemar Sideroad.
He's making a run for councillor in Ward 2.
Campbell is the Director of Business Development for Masterfeeds Canada and thinks his experience in the ag sector will have appeal in the township. "I don't claim to understand all the issues, but I understand the majority of the issues facing the producers in our area. So I'm in tune with that and sensitive to that. That's going to be important."
Campbell also hopes to bring some of his business knowledge to council. "I do have a strong business and financial background in running businesses, which to me, running a township is no different than running a business. You've got to be fiscally responsible, and you also have to listen to the people you represent."
Campbell said he wanted to start his campaign early to get his name out there, and to start attending council meetings to get up to speed on the issues.
