Oxford County MP Arpan Khanna rose to speak twice during his first week in Parliament. He addressed housing affordability and the rising grocery prices.
OTTAWA - Oxford County's new Conservative MP is looking back on his first week in Parliament.
In a statement released yesterday, Arpan Khanna said it was a very exciting experience.
He rose to speak twice in the House of Commons in order to address the escalating grocery prices and housing affordability, issues that affect people living in Oxford and beyond.
Khanna also said serving the community is the honour of a lifetime and he's going to hold the Trudeau government accountable for its "fiscal irresponsibility."
You can read his full statement below:
"It was an exciting first week in Parliament, and I am thrilled I could take my seat to represent the hardworking people of Oxford proudly.
I rose in the House twice to speak on real issues impacting people's lives in Oxford, escalating grocery prices and housing affordability.
After eight years of this Liberal-NDP government, Oxford and Canadians know they can no longer afford this Prime Minister. Canadians are working harder and harder but barely getting by - everything costs more, and inflation keeps rising. The fall session may have just started, but I am eager to hold this government to account for its fiscal irresponsibility.
Serving the community of Oxford is the honour of a lifetime, and if there is anything my team or I can do to help, please let me know."
