He says before any work is done, he wants to bring the community together and turn Council into a team.
NORWICH - A 44-year-old family man from Burgessville is looking to occupy a seat at Council.
Shawn Gear is running for Ward 3 councillor in Norwich, and he has been active in the community for years now, especially in local sports as a coach and as a member of the Board of Directors for Norwich Minor Hockey.
He says before any work is done, he wants to bring the community together and turn Council into a team.
"It comes down to accountability. I've seen a lot of changes in the community, I've seen the community growing in population, and it just so seems that that our community, our council and other people that work for the township continue to put the cart in front of the horse. We're not looking at the end game here."
Gear says he is happy to see all the candidates in the township this year and believes that the people have been lacking choice in the past.
The municipal election is scheduled for October 24, however the people of Norwich will get an opportunity to vote earlier when the Vote By Mail Packages begin to roll out next Monday on September 26.
