A Grade 5 student from Roch Carrier French Immersion Public School is now considering a political future after becoming Woodstock's Junior Mayor of the Day.
WOODSTOCK - A local Grade 5 student not only got to take the day off school today, but she also got to spend it with Mayor Trevor Birtch as Junior Mayor of the day.
Taylor Lees won the opportunity through a silent auction, at a fundraiser for an outdoor classroom at Roch Carrier French Immersion Public School.
She says her favourite part of the day was when Mayor Birtch picked her up from school.
"So we went to school at like 9:10am and my friends were all surprised because they didn't know about it."
The two spent the day touring the city; stopping by multiple locations including City Hall, the Woodstock Fire Department, the Woodstock Police Station and South Gate Centre.
Mayor Birtch enjoyed passing the torch on to Lees for the day.
"I really enjoy this! It's a great opportunity to inspire the next generation."
Lees says she would love to become a Mayor someday.
