Pink Shirt Day has supported programs that impacted more than 59,000 youth and children.

OXFORD COUNTY - Oxford Country is observing Pink Shirt Day.

Celebrated in 180 countries, Pink Shirt Day brings awareness to bullying and how it can affect in young adults and youth.

The movement was first created by Nova Scotia high school students Davis Shepherd and Travis Price in 2007. After a grade 9 boy was bullied at their school for wearing pink, the pair purchased 50 pink shirts and handed them out to other male students.

The protest grew from there.

Since then, the movement blew up to not only spread awareness but also raise funds to support programs that encourage healthy self-esteem.

In 2020, Pink Shirt Day was able to support programs that impacted more than 59,000 youth and children.

You can take a stand against bullying and be an advocate for kindness and inclusivity by wearing a Pink Shirt today.

You can also make donations, or become a volunteer by visiting their website.
