Fire prevention specialists from South West Oxford County will be appearing at the Oxford Pony Club for a fire prevention information night.
WOODSTOCK - The Pony Oxford Club is holding a free information session on fire prevention this evening.
The information session will be happening at the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs in Woodstock.
South West Oxford firefighter Troy Moffatt will be among the guests and he says it's important for youth to learn this information.
"If we can instill positive behaviours it goes a lot further than trying to re-correct negative behaviours. So if we can the best practices instilled in our young folks, and even anybody for that age, if you can get the right message first, it's a lot easier than having to correct a bad message."
Firef prevention specialists from SWOX will be on hand to teach the public and provide them information on fire safety and fire prevention, specifically to barn fires.
"If you can get the message out to the younger folks, and typically that's your captive audience, really the fire prevention is obviously no smoking, if there's fire extinguishers don't be covering them up, if there's access etc. It's certainly to recognize prevention methods first."
The event is free to attend and it begins at 6:30pm.
