There was no riot this year. London Police took a hard line this St. Patrick's Day on unruly parties before they got out of hand. Police hit the streets breaking up keg parties in student districts, even before 11AM. By mid-afternoon police had seized some 21 kegs, mainly because the beer was being sold without a license. Police did hand out some $200 tickets for noise complaints as well. Police say they'll be holding onto the beer as evidence, before returning them to the Beer Store. The crack down was in an effort to prevent what happened last year on Fleming Drive, when a mob of drunk partiers threw bottles at police, and set a news van on fire. 68 people were arrested and were hit with over 175 criminal charges.
