A third name has been added to the mayorial ballot in Zorra
The mayoral race in Zorra Township is heating up as a third name has been added to the ballot.
Current Councillor Gordon MacKay says after two terms as a councillor, running for mayor is the next logical step.
"I've always thought that it's a good idea to have new blood and new ideas and new enthusiasm come to the table and I think it's time for me to either move up, or it's time for a change. I'm getting a lot of encouragement from the community to move up."
"I think I'd like to encourage a more open and transparent approach to our financial situation. I think we all need to have better communication and whether that's with the rate payers, within the departments or within the staff within the departments."
"I think the landfill is probably the number one issue and I think we will have to make sure we monitor it fairly closely especially the potential ground water contamination."
MacKay joins current mayor Margaret Lupton and new comer Ken Minler on the ballot.
