Making People Smile One Rock at a Time

The local Facebook group called #woodstockrocks is encouraging people to post pictures of the rocks you find out on the trails or around Woodstock.

WOODSTOCK - Painting rocks has become a popular way to pass the time at home during the pandemic.

Families are getting very creative with their art work on rocks and then placing them along trails throughout the county.
The local Facebook group called #woodstockrocks is encouraging people to post pictures of the rocks you find out on the trails.

Woodstock Mayor Trevor Birtch took to social media to encourage people to do this to brighten someone's day, however he is cautioning people as well.

"If you'd like to take a walk to hide your creations for others to find, just be sure to practice appropriate social distancing.  For those out finding/re-hiding the rocks, please be sure to take proper precautions should you decide to pick them up to hide them elsewhere. Use a pair of gloves and dispose of them safely afterwards, or sanitize the rocks appropriately."

Birtch says it is also a good idea to leave to rocks where you find them.

"Alternatively, you may want to just leave the rock where you found it and take a picture of it to share with the group over at #woodstockrocks, you also might want to put a good coating of sealant on your rocks so they can be sanitized without damaging the art."
