But playoff hopes remain alive this morning, thanks to help from Burford.
The Ayr Centennials scored two quick goals late in the 2nd period to earn a 4-2 win over the Woodstock Navy Vets last night. The loss puts a damper on Woodstock's hunt for the 8th and final playoff spot in Midwestern Jr. C.
The good news for the Vets: Burford beat Delhi 8-3, keeping the Navy Vets playoff hopes alive. The Vets will now hope Tavistock can beat Delhi Saturday night, which would force a showdown in Delhi next Friday night where the Navy Vets could clinch that final playoff spot with a win in regulation.
Elsewhere in Jr. C action last night, Norwich was outshot 40-22, and lost in New Hamburg 3-1. Sean Kienapple scored the Firebirds second goal in the first period, that held up as the game winner.
Paris won 7-2 in Wellesley.
In SOJHL action, Thamesford got a big win in Lambeth 6-3, to vault the Torjans into 1st place in the league. They sit 1-point up on Lambeth and Dorchester.
