A condominium operation has been put in place for residents in Ingersoll.
INGERSOLL - Oxford County Council recently approved a condominium plan, which is located in Ingersoll.
Warden of Oxford County Larry Martin says the condominium plan will allow residents to become co-owners of the private property.
"It's a condominium operation in Ingersoll and it's a little bit different in that you can buy the property, and as such, you are also a co-owner is the best way of putting it. In some of the condominium agreements you sign, you get a condominium agreement with it that says you're responsible for Parks and Recreation, but in this situation the only thing that the residents that buy the homes are responsible for is it's basically like a private drive that's a street, but it's private property. They have a condominium corporation that's composed of members that own the condominiums and they form that corporation and they make sure that this is looked after."
Warden Martin adds that implementing the condominium plan can help grow the community and economy.
"It's something relatively new to the area but I think it's something that we need, and that they can more or less determine, and what we need is more housing in Oxford County because there is a housing shortage in Oxford County and let's hope it goes smoothly. It makes people want to stay here and maybe it'll bring some new people in because I know there is a shortage of people in the workforce at this point in time."
According to the report, the condos are 16 single detached dwellings on separate individual lots which can be accessed by a private road.
Residents are eligible to apply for a building permit.
No exact date has been given, but residents can begin moving into the condos once the units are complete.
