VON Oxford is going to help people get around through their new transportation service.
OXFORD COUNTY - VON Oxford is introducing a new transport service for older adults and adults with disabilities.
It will help take them to a doctor's appointment, a day program or even out on a shopping trip.
Care and Service Manager Robin Kish says it will be run by approximately 20 volunteers.
"We have volunteers who come in and offer to drive either VON owned vehicles or they can choose to drive their own vehicles, pick up clients and take them to their destinations."
Kish adds it will be a door to door service.
"We take clients to other cities if they need to go to a doctor's appointment in London or Kitchener or other places. The volunteer will pick them up right at their door, wait for them while they are attending their appointment and take them back home again."
VON is going to continue their partnership with the Tillsonburg Multi Service Centre and Ingersoll Services for Seniors in order to offer transit in those areas.
The new program will be unveiled at the VON Oxford Office in Woodstock at 11am.
