Norwich Merchants head coach Dave Smith has resigned from the team to spend more time with his family. The team has promoted assistant Jared Boersma to be the new head coach.
NORWICH - The Norwich Merchants have accepted the resignation of Head Coach Dave Smith.
Smith would like to take time to spend with his grandchildren. The Merchants wanted to thank him for his multiple years of service behind the bench and wish him nothing but the best for the future.
With Dave's resignation, The Norwich Merchants are pleased to announce that Jared Boersma has been hired as Head Coach for the 2020-21 season. Jared spent last season as an assistant coach for the Merchants. He also has multiple years as a head coach in minor hockey including a spell with the Norwich Knighthawks in 2017-18 where he led a bantam team to a Silver Stick Championship along with an Ontario Championship.
