It will be introduced shortly after 4:00 p.m. today.
ONTARIO - It's budget day in Queens Park.
Finance Minister Peter Bethlenfalvy is set to table the 2026 budget in the Ontario Legislature shortly after 4:00 p.m. today.
The good news is that Bethlenfalvy has signalled that the budget won't have any tax increases, but he's also warning Ontarians to prepare for tougher times ahead. We're still in the midst of US President Donald Trump's trade war, and global conflicts continue to challenge the province's economy.
Economists have warned against having big ticket items in this budget, to keep the books in check as we head into another turbulent year.
Ontario had a deficit of $13.4 billion earlier this year and the overall debt as of 2025 was $460 billion. With that being said, we have seen improvements to the net-debt-to-G-D-P ratio under Bethlenfalvy.
