The 'Stay Focused' Campaign is aimed at reducing distracted drivers.
OXFORD COUNTY - The OPP West Region, which includes Oxford County are running a campaign with the focus of reducing distracted driving.
The 'Stay Focused' campaign is aimed at reducing deaths and injuries caused by distracted driving on Ontario's roads and highways. Throughout the campaign, drivers can expect heightened enforcement as officers are taking a zero-tolerance approach towards distracted drivers.
Distracted driving includes any activity that takes a driver's attention off the road such as eating, drinking, using a cell phone or tending to others in the vehicle while driving. Penalties for distracted driving are severe and can include fines, demerit points, license suspensions and increased insurance costs.
The campaign is running today to April 3, with a focus on educating distracted drivers who put themselves and the community at risk.
