Mental Health workers in Oxford County stepped up in a big way for the United Way this year. CMHA Oxford workers donated $3842 to the United Way campaign. That's 50% more than last year's total. Executive Director Mike McMahon says being one of the agencies supported by the United Way, the workers really understand the importance of contributing to the cause. "While we're funded by the Ministry of Health to serve the community for clients who receive case management, court diversion and crisis services, education for folks who have a family member struggling with mental illness, all of those affiliated services wouldn't happen without the United Way. And these are really important services, and as we go into the future, they're going to be even more important." Campaign Manager Shelly Lachapelle credits the workers for running a successful workplace campaign. "By coming together internally to really make a difference and have fun doing it, it's a fabulous announcement." The United Way is now about half-way to their goal of 1.1-million dollars.
