Oxford County Council received its second update for the Helping Homebuyers, Protecting Tenants Act on Wednesday.
OXFORD COUNTY - Oxford County Council is moving forward with the next steps for the Helping Homebuyers, Protecting Tenants Act.
Warden Marcus Ryan says this is the second review of the act and explains what the report indicated for the county.
“It highlighted the same concerns it raised the first time, the potential loss of 5 percent to 10 percent of the agricultural land in Oxford and the potential that villages, towns, and cities could expand without any land use justification into farmland and green spaces.”
He adds Council's next step is to write a proposal to the Ford Government requesting changes to the act in regard to land use, which will put a pause in planning for the developments.
