Greenpeace has sent a letter of support to Oxford County and encourages the province to follow our lead.
Oxford County's 2050 goal has caught the attention of another organization.
The Senior Energy Analyst at Greenpeace has sent a letter of support to Oxford County. In this letter, they state that Oxford County helped to inspire a declaration from fourteen civil society groups to encourage Ontario to follow in our footsteps and make the 100% renewable pledge.
Warden David Mayberry says it is nice to be acknowledged in this way.
"They also though were suggesting to the province that projects like our sustainability cluster, or innovation hub, is something the province should be supporting - giving us a bit of a push towards the province to say, 'These are the sort of projects you should be supporting, these are the things that will move your agenda forward.'"
In the declaration sent to Energy Minister Glenn Thibeault, Greenpeace calls Oxford County an 'innovation incubator.'
