OXFORD COUNTY - March break has officially begun! and Oxford OPP are giving the community some safety tips to remember.
Motorists, use caution when traveling since more kids will be outside and in the community during the week.
Constable Ed Sanchuk said that internet safety is the first topic to refresh before leaving children alone.
"Speak to your children about internet safety. Remind them to never give out personal information to anyone online. And most important never meet someone in person who you first met online."
He also says to remind your children not to engage with strangers, or ever open the door to someone they don't know. Doors in the home should remain locked until parents get home.
Lastly, when children are outside remind them to be careful around rivers and streams...rising water levels can make wet areas more dangerous.
"With the water levels rising we often see rushing water and slippery banks that are intriguing to children. Especially with weather like this where there is water partially frozen by cold spells."
The Oxford OPP and Heart FM are wishing everyone a safe and exciting week off!
