Players could be yelling "BINGO" in Woodstock as early as April. That's the current timeline from Owner/Operator Robert Dowd, who says renovations are soon to be underway at the site on Springbank. He says there's a lot of work involved in transforming the former Home Hardware in the Springbank Plaza into a modern facility. Dowd is promising you won't recognize it. "A substantial difference in the sense that you'll feel like you're walking into a nice restaurant, rather than a BINGO Hall. We offer table service with real dishes and glasses and what-not, so you don't like up for french fries in a cardboard container type-thing." Dowd has his gaming license from the province, and will be meeting with interested local charities in late-March. "It will all start to happen as we get going. We have had a lot of interest from local organizations and we'll be organizing the initial meeting soon." He says "Chances", a BINGO Hall he opened in Simcoe recently is hosting sessions 7-days a week. Dowd says the response has been very strong, and expects the same in Woodstock. If you can't wait until then, the Woodstock Legion offers BINGO every Thursday night at 7:30.
