Realtors Care Food Drive

The Woodstock-Ingersoll and District Real Estate Board's Realtors Care Food Drive is on May 1st.

OXFORD COUNTY - The Woodstock-Ingersoll and District Real Estate Board's Realtors Care Food Drive is starting next week.

The annual collection drive will be covering Woodstock, Ingersoll and Sweaburg.

Organizer Kelly Byers says the food drive has been a successful event.

"This is our ninth annual food drive this year and it's estimated that we've raised 137,000 lbs of food since its inception. We're very proud of that. We are the largest food drive now for the Salvation Army and last year we had our best one yet, we got 29,000 lbs of food between Ingersoll and Woodstock."

There are 115 volunteers this year, who will be going around neighbourhoods picking up the bags of food on May 1st at 6:00pm.

Organizer Reineta Gossier says the Salvation Army will be accepting non-perishable food, along with other items.

"Anything non-perishable. They do ask anything that has expired they can't talk that, but even things like dog food, baby food, diapers anything along that line there's a real shortage of that, so anything non-perishable."

The bags will be dropped off to people's doorsteps anytime a week before the collection date.

Byers says if you want to donate, but did not get a bag dropped off, you can bring in your food to the Salvation Army on the night of the food drive.

Proceeds from the Realtors Care Food Drive will go towards the Salvation Army in Woodstock.
