The Children's Aid Society of Oxford County is looking for a few more teams to sign up to their Rock the Fund Curling Bonspiel.
WOODSTOCK - There is still time to gather a few more teams for the Rock the Fund Curling Bonspiel.
You can sign up as a team or an individual for the bonspiel happening on Saturday, March 30th.
Coordinator of Development for the Children's Aid Society of Oxford County, Ron Archer says they are raising money for the Endowment fund.
"We're raising funds for our Endowment fund and for kids for camp. So most of the money goes to our endowment which is for bursaries for post-secondary education for university and college."
Archer says you don't need to have a team organized for the event, or previous curling experience.
"If you want to just come yourself and try it out, or if you and a buddy want to come and try, or a girlfriend, come on out. They give instructions, so you don't have to have any experience, they'll give you instructions. You just got to have a clean pair of running shoes, dress warm, have a pair of gloves, two or three layers so if you do get warm you can take them off. It's a great day, lots of food all day long and munchies. It's a great day."
This is the second time Rock The Fund will be coming to Woodstock. Last year, the fundraiser was held in Norwich.
Archer says he's hoping to surpasses last year's total.
"Last year we raised $5,600.00. So this year with our corporate sponsor and our ice and our food paid for, we're $1,500.00 up already this year. So if we can get a full house, hopefully we can be well over that $6,000.00."
The event will include a silent auction, along with a lunch, snacks and prizes for everyone. Curlers will also receive a tax receipt for a portion of your entry fee.
It costs $240.00 for a team of four or you can pay $60.00 per player. If you're interested in registering a team, you can call Denise at the Children's Aid Society of Oxford County at 519-539-6176 ext 327.
Rock the Fund Curling Bonspiel is at the Woodstock Curling Club, with draws beginning at 9:00am and 10:00am.
