DELHI - Norfolk OPP say a tired school bus driver, went into the ditch after he dropped off all of his kids on Swimming Pool Road between Delhi and Otterville.
The driver dozed off and went into the ditch on Thursday afternoon around 4:17. Luckily the bus was empty. There were no injuries reported to the driver and no damage to the school bus.
Inspector Joseph Varga, Detachment Commander with the Norfolk OPP says the incident serves as a reminder of just how dangerous it can be to drive while tired.
"Most people recognize the dangers of driving while impaired by alcohol or drugs, however, many do not realize that driving while drowsy can be just as fatal. Sleepiness not only slows reaction time, it decreases awareness, impairs judgment and increases the driver's risk of crashing."
