Residents are being invited to discuss their vision for the County at a World Cafe event.
OXFORD COUNTY - Oxford County's Community Sustainability Committee is inviting residents of all ages to refreshments and a discussion on their vision for the County.
Chair of the Committee Chris Friesen says it's part of their World Cafe events.
"These are meant to be opportunities where anybody and everybody is welcome to come -- a very open forum -- an opportunity to express what you value about Oxford County, what you would never want to see lost, what you think makes us a great place to live and then of course an opportunity to say, but to build on that, it would be good if we looked at this issue or if we did more of this or less of that."
Friesen says there will be facilitators on scene to help start the conversation.
"At each table group there will also be some people -- hopefully from our steering committee-- who will have a little more knowledge, just because we have been talking about it as a group, that we can help the general public. We don't want to steer their conversations. We don't want to tell them 'no we want to talk about this, we don't want to talk about that' but just to make sure that the focus is on what we value about the County and how we want to make it better."
Friesen adds this event is open to people of all ages. "We have promoted it to schools. We want anybody who wants to have their say because at the end of the road, we're going to develop a Sustainability Plan for the County and it's going to impact everybody to some degree. It may impact you today, tomorrow, it may not be for ten or fifteen years but we don't want people regretting that they never had a chance to have their say."
