The Tri-Centurena Skating Club is inviting the community to celebrate 50 years next month, which will include a special guest.
WATERFORD - The Waterford Tri-Centurena Skating Club is celebrating 50 years next month.
The facility will be celebrating the milestone with its members, looking back on significant moments in the club's history. The club's show is called Golden Memories.
Club President Jennifer Bard says she is excited to be a part of the celebration.
"It's pretty exciting. Obviously our skaters who are in the club are very excited to come out and celebrate and show all the skills they've learned this year. And we have lots of skaters coming back who haven't skated for a little while, or skated somewhere else, and they're all coming back to celebrate as well and share some memories."
Bard says the event will also feature a special guest. She says former Olympic figure skater Elvis Stojko will be attending.
"We have Elvis Stojko, Canadian champion, world champion and Olympian, coming to skate with our skaters. We're very excited to have Elvis come. He's going to performing in both of our shows, twice in each show. And we're really excited to let people in Norfolk and the surrounding areas come and see Elvis perform. He's fantastic."
Skating coaches from the club will also be at the event, including Lindsay Stay who coaches at the Woodstock Skating Club and she was among the people who designed the program.
Golden Memories will happen on April 6th, starting at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. at Talbot Gardens in Simcoe.
Tickets are $20.00 each, free for children under 5 years-old. Tickets can be purchased online or you can contact the Waterford Tri-Centurena Skating Club.
