Stop and Look

Perth County OPP officers will be targeting rural intersections this week for their Stop and Look campaign.

PERTH COUNTY - Expect to see plenty of OPP officers hanging out at intersections in Perth County this week as they conduct another "Stop and Look" campaign.

With this week long drive the Perth County OPP are looking to enforce traffic laws at over 1150 rural intersections, between March 25 and March 31, 2019, most of which are controlled by stop signs.

Officers are targeting a number of intersections where collisions are likely to happen, often due to distracted driving

The specific targeting of intersections is designed to make motorists more conscious of stopping and looking for potential dangers on the roadways.

The "Stop and Look" campaign started in 2011, a year before a collision involving a minivan and a transport truck in the community of Hampstead which left 11 people dead.

Stop signs ensure the safety of everyone on the road, and disobeying those signs puts innocent lives at risk.

Staff Sergeant Stephane Pilon offered these words

"I would like to encourage all motorists to consciously stop and look."
