Songs For a New World is the latest production happening at Theatre Woodstock.
WOODSTOCK - Audiences can enjoy a musical production at Theatre Woodstock beginning this weekend.
Songs For A New World begins its run this weekend, which opens tonight.
Director Sylvie Weir says their rehearsals have gone great leading up to the show.
"It's been a really great experience. We're rehearsing three times a week for about three hours each time, so it is a hardened time commitment but we also have a lot of fun while we're dong that. As much as we work on the songs and the characterization, we also just laugh and have a great time. And then they also spend some time on their own working on that, that sort of content, while we're scurrying around behind the scenes making sure we have a set and our programs are ready."
Weir says no character is connected and there is no through story, but each song is performed by a different character, featuring a different setting centred around a moment of a decision or an epiphany or change.
She says audiences will be able to emotionally connect and relate to some of the songs.
"It's going be a unique experience where at least one song out of the 16 that we do, you will find a way to emotionally connect with and relate to, and it will be unlike anything we've done in a long time."
Tickets are $22.00 each and they can be purchased online or at the box office, which is open on Mondays, Wednesdays, Friday evenings and Saturday mornings. Youth prices are also available.
Songs For A New World runs on April 5th and 6th at 7:30pm and on April 7th at 2:00pm. They also run again on April 11th, 12th and 13th at 7:30pm.
