The United Way of Oxford is looking or a final push to the top to reach this year's goal.
They're at 95% and counting.
The United Way of Oxford is closing in on its goal for this year's campaign of $1,105,000.
With 4-weeks left to go, Executive Director Kelly Gilson says they're optimistic about meeting this year's lofty goal. "We are getting down to the wire, and our campaigning per se is over at this point. However, we're wrapping up and getting information on national accounts that run United Way campaigns and we still have information from workplaces coming in."
Gilson says a small celebration is being planned for February 27th, when they unveil the final total. "We believe in celebrating the effort and dedication of the volunteers who really make that campaign for us, and for the community. So we're going to be working with our 'Everyday Hero' theme that we used this year, and having a little fun with that."
Gilson says the "Everyday Hero" concept will be carried forward in future campaigns. It recognizes people who contribute $365 or more a year to the United Way - making them - "An Everyday Hero".
