The provincial government is looking to build on its long-term care facilities, and Tillsonburg is on that list.
TILLSONBURG - A new and updated long-term care home is coming to Tillsonburg.
This project received a top-up from the Construction Funding Subsidy, which is part of the Ontario government's plan to get 58,000 new and upgraded long-term care beds across the province. Construction is underway on a new 160-bed long-term care home, which is being called peopleCare Tillsonburg.
Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Long-Term Care, Tyler Allsopp says how wonderful this will be for Tillsonburg.
"Congratulations to the team on the new construction at peopleCare Tillsonburg. Our government is fixing long-term care, and a key part of that plan is building capacity where Ontarians need it. Today marks a significant milestone for Tillsonburg. When construction is complete, 160 residents will have a safe and modern place to call home."
The home will feature three stories centred around 5 resident home areas, creating a more intimate and familiar living space for up to 32 residents. The residents will be able to enjoy a bistro, chapel, dining, and activity rooms, secured balconies, a courtyard, outdoor spaces, a therapy room, a hair salon, and a family stay-over room.
It is expected that residents will be able to take up residency in late 2026.
