WOODSTOCK - Over $14,000 was raised at this years U-Dodge tournament to support the United Way Oxford.
10 teams competed on Saturday for the coveted wrench trophy. Resource Development Coordinator with the United Way Amanda Dreiger says all of the money raised on Saturday will stay in the community.
"All of the money raised at the event stays in Oxford County. We had sponsorship from Trigon Construction, who provided prizes for the top fundraising team and the top three fundraiser's. That really helped raise the awareness about the fundraising aspect, it is a peer to peer fundraiser. So the teams and the participants on the teams raise the money on our behalf for there team, so we do have prizes and little competitions from them."
Dreiger says they were blown away by the turnout this year.
“It was an incredible turn out again this year, with 10 teams participating! It’s always a great event to take part in –
from the planning stages to the tournament itself. The teams are invested in setting fundraising goals and working
hard to help make each year more successful. The community really comes together to help how they can, through food sponsorship for the participants to prizes for top fundraiser's. The event also requires a large amount of volunteers to ensure it runs smoothly. It is truly a community effort!”
A local team called Handz won the championship on Saturday after competing in 8 games of Dodgeball.
