You have until May 23rd submit a vote for this year's Oxford Reads selection.
OXFORD COUNTY - Voting is underway for the 2022 Oxford Reads selection.
Oxford Reads is a partnership between the Oxford County Library and the Woodstock Public Library.
System Support Librarian Sarah McDonald says patrons will read the same book and discuss, kind of like a county-wide book club.
"There is something to be said about reading the same book and coming together as a group of people, reading the same book but coming away with different experiences. I always say to people, my favourite book club discussions are the ones where everyone hated the book, because it is always a lively discussion but I will say, you will not hate any of these 4 books. These are all incredible books and I cannot wait to hear what everyone things and what everyone takes away from these novels, because everyone will take away something different."
MacDonald says they have four books to choose from; From the Ashes by Jesse Thistle, Driven: The Secret Lives of Taxi Drivers by Marcello Di Cintino, Fight Night by Miriam Toews and What Strange Paradise by Omar El Akkad.
"We always pick a heavier book, something that really dives deep into issues that relate to us and our community. Right now, what we are doing is, staff at OCL and Woodstock Library have come up with a short list of what we think are four incredible Canadian titles that we would like you to vote on as the community, to select one book, you think everyone in Oxford County needs to read."
Oxford Reads will announce the winning title in June and extend an invitation to the author to attend the Oxford Reads Gala this fall hosted by CBC’s Chris dela Torre.
Voting closes on May 23rd and you can vote online here.
