The Juniors will play at 6:00 p.m. next Wednesday and the Seniors will hit the hardcourt at 7:45 p.m..
WOODSTOCK - The annual WCI Captains/Veterans basketball game is back.
On Wednesday April 1st, there will be two games taking place with the Juniors starting at 6:00 p.m. and the Seniors playing at 7:45 p.m. Organizer, Eric Molinaro explains how this event came to be.
"The game was founded many decades ago by Bill Gillespie. So, he was a basketball icon in Woodstock and in Oxford County. He wanted to showcase the basketball talent that we had in and around the community."
Molinaro adds it's also a fundraiser, so the more people the better.
"People are invited to come, fans, family, and friends. It's $3 entry for students, $5 entry for adults, with proceeds going to the Terry Fox Foundation, and that's in memory of Bill Gillespie."
Gillespie played a major role in the Terry Fox Run events in Woodstock. Molinaro says there will also be raffle tickets for sale at the event, and that will also act as a fundraiser for the Terry Fox Foundation.
