Woodstock Mayor Trevor Birtch has proclaimed September as Big Brothers Big Sisters month.
WOODSTOCK - Big Brothers Big Sisters of Woodstock and District was honoured in Woodstock City Council Chambers, with an official proclamation from Mayor Trevor Birtch.
September is Big Brothers Big Sisters month in the community.
Executive Director Kristen Ralph says they're encouraging businesses to help paint the town purple to mark the occasion.
"They can pick up a starter kit at the Big Brothers Big Sisters office and paint their place of business purple. We have balloons, streamers and posters. It's a great way just to show your support of the agency and to get the word across."
Ralph adds they're on their way to a record breaking year.
"We've supported close to 400 kids so far this year and we're on our way to supporting at least 600. We're really excited about us being able to do that this year and we're just excited that we can help that many kids."
Anyone interested in volunteering or donating to the organization can visit their website or contact their office by calling 519-537-6404.
