A woman from Woodstock is the new president for the London chapter of MADD.
WOODSTOCK - The new President of the London Chapter for MADD Canada is from Woodstock.
Mary Rodrigues was voted into the position in June and will continue to do volunteer work for the MADD chapter in Oxford. Rodrigues got involved with MADD Canada after losing her youngest son to a drunk driver 6 1/2 years ago. She says her son was only 4 months old when he lost his life in a fatal crash on Thanksgiving of 2008. "It's been... not an enjoyable 6 1/2 years watching my sons try and figure out how to move on after the death of their brother, coming to realize how much it has affected them. My oldest son Max remembers everything about that night and he was sitting right next to Alex when the crash happened - it's heartbreaking to know that is his last memory of his brother."
As President of the London MADD chapter Rodrigues will be responsible for the monthly meeting and guiding the London Board of Directors for fundraisers and education awareness programs.
