The final phase of a $120-million dollar investment in the electricity system of Oxford County will begin in February. Hydro One will be constructing a new transmission line across the south end of Woodstock. Work will begin along Towerline Road and Highway 401, and slowly work its way west, eventually finishing in Southside Park. And it will be long-term, the upgrade is expected to be completed in December 2012. Spokesperson for the utility, Melissa Melissa Rozycki explains what is being constructed. "The work is addressing increasing electricity needs in the Woodstock area. It involves a new transmission station that will be built at Commerce Way and Parkinson Road. The line upgrade work is all creating access roads, excavating and installing new poles, and tower foundations. And demolition of the old towers and wire." The work will cause some traffic narrowing throughout the year along Parkinson Road. It's part of a $120-million investment in the County that included the Karn Road Station and Line to Ingersoll last year.
