IDCI graduate Jeremy Hansen is about to become the first Canadian to circle around the moon.

FLORIDA - An Ingersoll District Collegiate Institute (IDCI) alumni is about to go on the journey of a lifetime.

Jeremy Hansen is the only Canadian on NASA's Artemis II launch, which will see four astronauts venture around the moon in just 10 days. During the flight, they will orbit the Earth, travel to the Moon, conduct a lunar flyby, and return to Earth, making this the first time in 50 years that astronauts are going around the moon. Hansen will also become the first Canadian to ever to do this.

The launch window is between 6:24 p.m. and 8:24 p.m. this evening and it will be livestreamed online.

Jeremy Hansen is originally from London, where he joined the 614 Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron when he was 12-years-old. He graduated from IDCI in 1994 and there's now an Artemis II Explorers Club at his former school.

The Artemis II launch was originally planned for February 8th, but was delayed due to a hydrogen leak during a wet dress rehearsal of the launch.
