If you're a fan of comedy, wenches or armour, the Oxford Renaissance Festival is the place to be this weekend.
WOODSTOCK - Close to eight thousand people are expected to descend on Woodstock for the Oxford Renaissance Festival.
The three day festival allows residents to take a trip back in time through the entertainment, food and even vendors.
Organizer Greg Schuurman says there are some new acts this year.
"The Washing Well Wenches which is kind of a female version of the Mud Show. We have a more interactive Birds of Prey Show, the Canadian Raptors are coming out and we have a much larger battle group as well called the Scallagrims who are hailing from the Toronto/Montreal area."
Schuurman says there is something for everyone.
"The festival is designed that anybody can go. You can come in pretty much any costume you'd like. You don't have to come in costume and it's basically just tonnes of comedy. If you like Monty Python and the Holy Grail, if you like Knight's Tale, if you like Men in Tights, if you like Princess Bride, those kind of movies, then you will fit right in."
Schuurman says they tried to keep the event as close to the Renaissance time period as possible.
"We have actually authentic food like turkey legs, giant pickles and all kinds of fun stuff that they would have ate back then but also we have lots of vendors who are very unique to the time period where they are selling not just swords or knives and armour but also really cool stuff that's right up medieval ally."
The festival runs Friday to Sunday at the Woodstock Fair Grounds. Admission is $25 for adults, $20 for seniors and children aged 6-16 and those under 5 are free.
