A notice of motion will be brought forward in hopes of addressing dangerous conditions on rural roads.
WOODSTOCK - A Woodstock City-County Councillor is about to shine a light on dangerous road conditions.
Bernia Martin is set to bring a notice of motion forward during tonight's council meeting.
She would like council to submit a request to the province to implement the Rural Road Safety Program through Good Roads. That program encourages the introduction of road safety audits in Ontario, similar to what's done in Australia and New Zealand.
She would also like the City to work with the County to implement this program, in addition to a Vision Zero Policy. This encourages making changes to the transportation system design to prevent road fatalities.
Councillor Martin will table the notice of motion during tonight's meeting, so it will be discussed at the next meeting.
Tonight's meeting starts at 7:00 p.m. and you can find the agenda online here. You can also livestreamed it through the City of Woodstock YouTube page.
