The money raised on October 17th to support two of Hearts for Ethiopia's Projects overseas; Tesfa's Shelter and Wellness for Women.

WOODSTOCK - A Walk in Their Shoes is back for another year in the Friendly City.

It will be taking place at Maranatha Christian Reformed Church in Woodstock on Saturday October 17th. All of the proceeds will be going to Hearts for Ethiopia for two of its projects overseas; Tesfa's Shelter and Wellness for Women.

Registration starts at 1:00 p.m. that day, followed by the opening ceremonies at 2:00 p.m.. There will be an interactive education period from 2:00 p.m. from 3:10 p.m. where those in attendance can check out an Ethiopian Merkato, Ethiopian coffee ceremony, and a silent auction.

Founder Shelley Green says they will also have the Discover Ethiopia contest.

"You get a game card and it has questions from one to 10 and you answer in multiple choice and you can find the answers on the wall. It's many different areas about Ethiopia ranging from the food they eat, their climate, etc. So it's about Ethiopia in general."

The walk itself will take place from 3:10 p.m. to 3:40 p.m. and they will have informational signs posted along the route, which takes you through the neighbourhood surrounding Marantha Church.

Everything will wrap up with the closing ceremonies from 3:45 p.m. to 4:00 p.m..

Green says every dollar they makes a difference.

"The sponsorship of one child is $1,000 for a year. When you look at what the cost to raise a child is here in Canada, you're looking at a minimum of $15,000 per year."

The sponsorship supports one child at Tesfa's Shelter; providing them with meals, care, and education.
