The Downtown Woodstock BIA has launched its Festive Fun Weekends and it's getting ready for the December Shopping Night next week.
WOODSTOCK - The holiday spirit is alive and well in downtown Woodstock.
The BIA launched its Festive Fun Weekends in Museum Square last weekend, and it will return this coming weekend.
Business Operation Manager Duane Kamala-Thomas says it has been a big hit so far.
"So there are train rides and glowing swings, you might have seen those if you have passed by the downtown area. Santa's House is open for photos with the Woodstock Camera Club which is always a delight."
You can get your picture taken with Santa for free, but Kamala-Thomas recommends arriving early to avoid a big lineup.
There will also be live music with Sandy McDonald and Andrew Dolson scheduled for this Friday, and Caleb DeGroot-Magegtti and Rick Guzik performing this Saturday.
All of the fun is from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday evenings and from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday afternoons.
Kamala-Thomas says the December shopping night will also be taking place earlier than expected.
"It's usually the last Thursday of every month, but this year we have switched it to before Christmas. So it's happening on Thursday December 21st."
Downtown retailers stay open later during the monthly event so people have more time to get their shopping done. Some of the businesses also offer special promotions.
You can find more information about the BIA's Festive Fun Weekends and the monthly shopping night online here.
Kamala-Thomas stopped by the Heart FM studio to chat with Dan and Marcie on Wednesday December 13th and you can listen to the full interview below:
