The Ingersoll Downtown BIA will be hosting the Lighting of the Lights ceremony tonight.
INGERSOLL - It's the official start of the holiday season in Ingersoll.
Virginia Armstrong, the Coordinator of the Ingersoll Downtown BIA, says the Lighting of the Lights ceremony will be taking place this evening.
"Tonight is going to be a very exciting night as we celebrate the Lighting of the Lights with Santa Claus, local dignitaries, the Ingersoll Pipe Band, and the Lions Club will also have hot chocolate and will be serving that up for free."
Thames Street will be closed starting at 6:30 p.m., the Ingersoll Pipe Band begin playing at 6:45 p.m., and the lights will turn on at 7:00 p.m.
Armstrong tells us where the lights are located.
"We have lights at the gazebo in the downtown, we have our special Christmas tree that lights up, and then we light up the lights in the park behind the gazebo. The lighting of the lights at the Ingersoll Cheese and Agriculture Museum will be on an alternate night."
The street should reopen at 7:30 p.m. and Armstrong says a lot of the downtown businesses will be open late tonight and offering special promotions.
