TILLSONBURG - The Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) MEGABike is coming to Oxford County
The famous bicycle will be taking to the streets of Tillsonburg on Wednesday, May 28th.
Manager of Communications, Liz Wismer-Van Meer, says she's thrilled about this event, being held at the Indigo Lounge.
"This is the first-time we have hosted MEGABike and when looking at locations to hold the event, Tillsonburg was our immediate thought."
The multi-person bike has 30 seats and needs a minimum of 15 riders to even get the bike moving.
Over the last several years, Wismer-Van Meer says BBBS has seen a steady increase in enrollment in their Tillsonburg programs
"In the first three months of 2025 we have already supported over 50 youth. Additionally, there are 30 young people currently on our waitlist, waiting to be matched with a mentor”"
She adds BBBS doesn’t receive government funding and is hoping to fundraise during this event.
"Our goal is to raise $50,000 through our MEGABike event, directly benefiting the young people of Tillsonburg and creating a brighter future for the entire community."
The one hour time slots begin at 9:00 a.m. and the ride is roughly 20- to 30 minutes. Each team will get photos and Go-Pro footage of their ride.
Tax Receipts will be issued for all donations of $20 or more. More information can be found on BBBS Oxford County website.
