Ingersoll Fire & Emergency Services is going to use a $42,680 cheque from the province to purchase a drone.
INGERSOLL - Ingersoll Fire & Emergency Services has received a cheque for $42,680 from the province.
It's from the Community Emergency Preparedness Grant and Deputy Fire Chief Ryan Baker says they already have plans for the funding.
"The Town of Ingersoll Fire & Emergency Services are grateful for the funding received through the Community Emergency Preparedness Grant. This funding will allow our organization to purchase a drone that will provide enhanced service to our residents and provide a higher level of safety to our first responders during small and large scale emergencies."
Oxford MPP Ernie Hardeman says the money is being put to good use.
"Special equipment is often needed when responding to incidents. This funding will allow Ingersoll’s emergency services to be even further prepared to address any situation that may arise."
Caroline Mulroney, President of the Treasury Board and Minister responsible for Emergency Management says the Community Emergency Preparedness Grant consists of $5 million to help purchase critical supplies, and equipment and deliver emergency training and services across Ontario
"From floods to wildland fires, these targeted investments will empower communities and organizations to enhance their emergency response. Whether it's building up local fire departments or enabling more efficient search and rescue operations, our government is giving communities the tools and resources they need to keep people safe."
