A project manager for a provincial education network is in the running to be Oxford's next trustee on the Thames Valley District School Board.
WOODSTOCK - A Woodstock woman is looking to bring her education experience to the table as Oxford's next trustee for Thames Valley District School Board.
Kelly Bairos has thrown her hat into the ring alongside current trustee Bill McKinnon and Thamesford father Daniel West.
Bairos is currently a project manager for a provincial education network.
"Trustees work with items that I actually really enjoy working with and I have experience with. They work with education policy, they manage public dollars, they work with education programs and they make a lot of decisions that have great impact for our students."
Bairos also believes it's important for trustees to identify, understand and incorporate community values and interests; adding community consultation is needed.
She's looking to bring change if she's elected in October.
"As you may or may not know there is no individual decision making; all of the decisions are made as a board. I think there needs to be a focus on strategic planning and ensuring that the mission and vision of the school board promotes continuous improvement of student achievement."
