Nobody was hurt after students were placed under a brief Lockdown at CASS on Monday
WOODSTOCK - Students at College Ave Secondary School in Woodstock were placed under a brief Lockdown on Monday.
Woodstock Police were called to the school and arrested a 17 year old. The teen did have two knives in his possession however he was not threatening to use them against any of the students or staff. Nobody was injured and conditions returned to normal after about 12 minutes. The Thames Valley District School Board did send the following note home to parents after the incident.
Parents and Guardians,
This message is to inform you about a Code Red called today at approximately 10:26 a.m. while police investigated a potential safety issue in the school. Students and staff were safe at all times and conditions returned to normal after about 12 minutes. Please contact the office if you require further information. Thank you
I spoke to the principal and she further characterized the situation as a "Student who was in distress who is now getting needed assistance."
As a matter of practice, parents are notified in all cases where a Lockdown or Hold and Secure is called at a TVDSB school. In elementary schools, letters are sent home with students. In high schools, a synervoice message may be sent or some other means, such as a message on the school website, depending on the school community.
