In order to give themselves enough time to thoroughly prepare, the meeting on mental health and suicide at Goff Hall is being pushed back.
WOODSTOCK - The date of the upcoming suicide prevention meeting at Goff Hall has been pushed back a couple of weeks.
The public meeting was originally scheduled for May 3rd at Goff Hall at 7pm. It will now take place on May 26th - same time, same place.
Councillor Shawn Shapton tells Heart FM why the date changed.
"In an effort listen to the experts who gave us some advice and warning of caution, in order to create the proper steps leading up to such an open public meeting with this topic."
The local public and catholic school boards will hold a meeting for parents, caregivers, and mental health professionals about suicide prevention beforehand. There is no word yet where or when that will be.
Shapton encourages anyone who may be struggling, to seek help.
"I can't stress enough that your community cares, that there are those around you that care about you and if you need help reach out for it. Somewhere, someone is willing to offer that hand that you need and it's not the end of the line, so reach out."
